  2.                      Pirates! Gold General MIDI update
  3.  
  4. Due to the continued interest in Pirates! Gold, your friends in the MPS
  5. Sound Department have created a General MIDI sound driver for the game.
  6.  
  7. The driver was optimized for the Roland Sound Canvas family (including the
  8. SCC-1), but will run on all General MIDI synthesizers with an industry-
  9. standard MPU-401 type MIDI interface. Along with the new GM driver, you can
  10. also use any common DMA-equipped sound card for digitized sounds if you have
  11. version 3 of the game. **

  13. Unzip this file to your Pirates! directory and run GMSETUP, which will allow
  14. you to select your card's address and interrupt settings. GMSETUP will also
  15. rename your old Roland driver to RSOUND.PG and then copy the new GSOUND.PIR
  16. to RSOUND.PIR.

  18. After running GMSETUP, you should re-run the INSTALL program, select 'change
  19. hardware options' and pick Roland MT-32 as your music card. Enjoy the
  20. richness of GM sound!
